The goal of the design is to bring vibrancy to the neighborhood while ensuring that customers can leave their troubles and woes behind. Specifically targeting confident, highly educated, and friendly women, the design aims to create a space that reflects their essential qualities. The spatial design language and mood are carefully crafted to present these elements and provide a smooth and personalized consumption experience.
The realization of the design incorporates various technologies and materials. In the entry foyer, known as Bay One, contrasting high gloss white and copper details are used to reflect humility, purity, style, and richness. The curves inspired by flowing water exude nobility, confidence, and femininity. Moving into Bay Two, the multi-functional space, natural Giorgio Morandi colors and soft lighting create a serene, soothing, and harmonious transitional area.
The spa center encompasses different areas, including stone spa rooms, treatment rooms, changing rooms, and bathrooms. With a total area of 3,800 sq ft, Bay One serves as the entrance and reception area, covering 400 sq ft, while Bay Two, the multi-functional area, spans 3,400 sq ft.
The design process for Bio Beauty involved efficient planning and teamwork. The space was split into two based on the zoning plan and design language, with the design of Bay One completed first. Construction work commenced immediately in Bay One while the design of Bay Two was still in progress. This approach ensured that the space was ready in time and that the concept goals were achieved.
The project, which took place in Hong Kong Causeway Bay, started in May 2018 and was completed in July 2018. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted on the characteristics of the target customers, focusing on natural elements such as water and the curves of the female form. These elements were then transformed into space design, materials, lighting, and more.
One of the main challenges faced during the design process was capturing the abstract feeling elements of women. To overcome this, the designers interviewed confident and successful women to understand their preferences for colors and lighting. They also studied top fashion brands to gain insights into their use of materials and lighting.
Bio Beauty is a testament to the creativity, technical expertise, and research that went into its design. It offers a unique and luxurious experience for women, creating a space that reflects their confidence and elegance. The design has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019, showcasing its practicality, innovation, and ability to meet professional and industrial requirements.
